The number of single mothers has been on a steady rise over the past decades. According to a recent press release by the U.S. Census Bureau, there were 9.88 million single mothers in the U.S. in 2007, which is up from 3.4 million in 1970.

The Crittenton Women’s Union (CWU), a Boston-based nonprofit group, said that you will need to make somewhere around $30 per hour and hold a full-time job, just to get by.

Author Lundy Bancroft uses “he” for the abuser and “she” for the abused. However, even if abuse also occurs in same sex relationships, the bulk of what is described in this book is still relevant to that situation.

Law makers in Tennessee are in a heated debate whether shared custody in divorces that involve children can be a common solution to deicide custody cases in the best interest of children. At the center of the discussion is the question whether it is reasonable that mothers are generally favored by courts to receive (full) custody of their children.

I get it. We don’t need to reinvent the wheel when the common wheel works just fine. But why is it that everyone is copying Apple’s iPhone? Sue Sanders over at Your Tango has posted an interesting story about a dating experience as a single mom, an experience that addresses so many concerns and worries you may have as well. For Tiger Woods, more time with his wife Elin could come with a steep price tag as there are now reports that the golfer has sent a generous Christmas present and Elin is now considering to work things out.

News of the World reports that Elin has told friends that Tiger has given her $300 million and rumors are flying whether that was actually the case and if so, what this could mean. The speculation is that Tiger simply had to pay because of a prenup or that it is simply the cost of a prolonged marriage to Elin.

The Baltimore Sun is running an interview with a private investigator and book author on the reasons of cheating and his experience with presumably affected clients. And according to Bill Mitchell it seems that opportunity is the key catalyst for infidelity and extramarital affairs that may ultimately turn married parents into single parents. And, males and females cheat for very different reasons.

The Oklahoma Supreme Court disqualified a district judge as it believed that he misinterpreted grandparent visitation laws. Judge Charles Gray apparently used “an expansive interpretation of grandparent visitation laws to give the paternal grandparents of a 4-year-old boy physical custody of the child five days a week while limiting the mother to two days.”

Rosie O’Donnell is in a new relationship, according to People. The former talkshow host is dating Tracy Kachtick-Anders, which she apparently met through her blog. Kachtick-Anders has six children, O’Donnell’s has four children.
