In a time where divorces are more and more considered a part of life it does not really come as a surprise that there is, in addition to a wedding fair, also a divorce fair. The first divorce fair we know of was held in Paris last weekend and reportedly attracted more than 4000 visitors.
Paris has long been viewed as one of the best places to get engaged or married, and now it seems that you should think of Paris when you get divorced as well. The city was host of a divorce fair called “New Start”, which featured 60 booths that were seen by about 4000 visitors over the weekend.
Those booths included the usual suspects, including divorce lawyers and counselors, but also makeover specialists, laser surgery firms, weight loss advisors, tarot readers and self-esteem coaches. As every decent trade show, the Paris event also included conferences and panels that discussed topics such as online dating, seduction, plastic surgery as well as legal issues.
The show’s organizer, Brigitte Gaumet, said that booths that offered legal advice were the most popular destinations at New Start.
Paris currently sees about 130,000 divorces every year, which is up from about 50,000 three decades ago.
