Sometimes, simple ideas are great ideas. We just heard about a product that we believe is worth passing on to our readers. There is a Just-out-of-Reach light switch extension for kids that may be a simple solution for some of the headaches you are facing with small kids in your household.
Just-out-of-Reach is installed within five seconds as it uses a simple plastic jacket that simply slides over the standard light switch. The entire extension is about 14 inches and includes a foam bottom that comes in many different shapes and colors, such as toy trucks, monkeys, giraffes or hearts. If you are concerned about the style in your home, there are also dark and light wooden knobs that should go along with most furniture styles.
The extensions come in two versions – a regular transparent plastic or a glow-in-the dark version.
So, do they work? Yes, they do, perhaps a bit too well, as my 15-month old is now more attracted to light switches than ever before. There may be a bit training involved, but if you want your child to be able to reach the light switch, this is the most elegant solution I am aware of.

Price: $8 and $9, depending on the version. You can find more information on the manufacturer’s website.
