21-year-old Spc. Alexis Hutchinson was arrested on November 6 for failing to show up to deploy with her unit to Afghanistan. Hutchison, a single mom and cook, said that there was no one to care for her 10 month old baby.

According to a story on Momlogic, Hutchinson was given an extension to find someone to take care of the child. She apparently stated she could not find help and then did not show up for service. She was arrested and her child taken into foster care as a result.

A spokesman for Hutchinson’s base said no charges have been filed yet.
