Gee, we were just greeted by Christmas decorations in our local department stores. Yup, it’s the time of the year again. Get ready for the annual frenzy and long lines for the hottest Christmas toys. With the help of Amazon.com and product rating services, we are regularly publishing a list of the hottest toys to help you sort through the most popular products every month. Here is our Top 10 for October.

1. Bakugan 7 in 1 Maxus Dragonoid
This one was a bit of a surprise to us – The Zhu Zhu Pets seem to be all the craze these days, but this Bakugan package recently reached the top spot on Amazon. It is a 7-in-1 “massive battle monster” that really consists of seven individual pieces, but combines in a huge (11” tall, 12” wide) Bakugan figure. About $50.

2. Scene It? Twilight Deluxe Edition
Scene it? Editions regularly make the holiday lists, just in time for Christmas. This time it is based on the Twilight movie. The manufacturer says there are hundreds of movie clips, on-screen puzzles and trivia questions that will test your knowledge. About $30.

3. Zhu Zhu Pets and Accessories
Zhu Zhu’s are robotic little hamsters that come in a range of styles with lots of accessories. There are wheels and tunnels, funhouses, cars, an adventure ball, blankets and probably much more than your bank account will like. Prices for the hamsters start in the $20 range and accessories are available from about $10 to just under $50. Some Internet stores sell entire Zhu Zhu “cities” for up to $250.

4. Elmo Live Encore
A refreshed version of the Elmo Live. You can tickle him and squeeze his foot, nose and tummy. Elmo sings three songs from Sesame Street. His mouth opens and closes, his head moves, he waves his arms and he can cross his feet. Yes, this one is expensive. About $70.

5. Nerf Raider Rapid Fire CS-35 Dart Blaster Value Pack
There is no way around Nerf guns if you have young boys. And it seems that the CS-35 is the most popular gun right now. This package goes for about $35. A “value pack” with more darts sells for just under $50.
