Jon and Kate Money Bickering Continues

jkgosselinDid he? Or didn’t he? Jon Gosselin said he did. Following Kate Gosselin’s attorney’s remarks that Jon Gosselin has not returned money to the joint checking account, Jon Gosselin told a judge this money that he did. But he also mentioned that Kate Gosselin still has to explain how she spent about $33,000 that has not been accounted for. Of course, Kate Gosselin’s lawyer said that she explained everything she needed to explain. Don’t you just love these games?

The Gosselins were due in court this morning and Jon Gosselin confirmed that he paid back the $230,000 he had removed from the joint checking account. Kate, on the other side was absent, and he complained that she has not explained the spending of $33,000. Apparently, the judge did not find this to be a pressing matter as the next court date is set for late November.

As much as I enjoyed watching Jon and Kate, I am sure I am not the only one thinking that this silly battle has to stop. I am scratching my head over Jon’s motivation to discuss his thought on the case early Monday morning outside the court house. The whole money issue does not make much sense, if we remember that Jon was accused that he took $230,000, but he was ordered to pay back $180,000 and he subsequently admitted that he took $155,000 – while he now says that he paid back $230,000.

Kate and her lawyer had no comments so far, but we will give it until noon until we hear from the other side. What surely has improved in this ugly fight is that the children have been removed from the public bickering. In time, it seems that Jon and Kate are like many of us and they will learn to keep their anger and frustration inside and focus on what is important – their children. That reminds me of a very inspiring comment that was posted by book author and counselor Donna Ferber as a response to one of our book reviews (Your Civil War). “Love your children more than you hate you ex. They did not ask for this.”

Eventually, most single parents come to this conclusion and I am sure Jon and Kate will as well. It might just take a bit longer here.
