If you have seen yesterday’s Kate Gosselin TLC special and you actually watched the entire episode, then you are either a hardcore Kate supporter or you are among those who can get excited when watching toothpaste commercials. But if you did not know it before, you surely know it now: Kate Gosselin is in love, has been in love and never was out of love.
Love, of course, really depends on your view. And I am not talking about her trainwreck husband Jon. I am talking about the camera. Yesterday’s special was a testimony how much she enjoys being in the spotlight and we now even know that she feels ready to be in a movie. Umm, Kate, what about getting your family off the camera and in order first? Just a thought.
We have speculated before that TLC will have to make a choice – to make the question and answer session incredibly boring or to expose the Gosselin’s irresponsible dumb behavior. One can only imagine how the private Jon and Kate communication works if we see what is going on in public. In either case, it was obvious that Kate will fall prey to the media, including us. But really, Kate and Jon’s actions are an invitation to a free for all and perhaps, just perhaps, the Gosselins will figure out one day the right thing to do.
That was not so much the case yesterday.
The questions were pre-screened (well, of course) and what made it on the show were those questions Kate wanted to answer and those that were considered “reasonable.” The outcome was about as exciting for the viewer as salsa without jalapenos and appeared more like a question and image repair session than answers that may have interested the viewers and followers of the show. So, what did we learn what was not public knowledge already?
Kate is in love, truly in love with the camera. “I’ve discovered that I’ve done enough years of TV that it’s a normal, natural place for me to be,” she said. She pointed out us that she would want to be in movie. And I was wondering if the drama in her private isn’t enough for her already. I could not help but wonder whether Kate would be a great fit for a sequel of Wax House, which revealed Paris Hilton’s acting talent and may not be so much a part of her resume.
Facing single parenthood, Kate also talked about being alone. On a serious note, it is obvious that both Kate and Jon are alone and may even be lonely, despite their children being around. The whole media attention surely amplifies the fact that they cannot go out in private and meet other people, friends and even family without being scrutinized. But I have a hard time feeling terrible for both of them. Kate, it is the life you chose. And you simply have to deal with it, just like other couples who get divorced have to deal with their own unique circumstances as well. And from what especially single parents have learned, being alone is certainly not the worst that happens and can happen in a messy divorce. Get real. You still have a cushy life.
Not unexpectedly, Kate does not want to get married again. However, that may not just because of her own feelings, but because of her feeling sorry for her circumstances and certain demands that may be difficult to achieve.
“I would love not to be alone but no one’s going to buy into my mess so I probably will be, but it’s OK,” she said and when asked directly about marriage, she answered: “To be honest, I don’t know…the aloneness is so alone…it’s going to have to be someone with a lot of patience character and strength and wisdom.” Patience? Really? Seriously? Kate, you may be stretching it a bit, looking at what we have learned so far. Perhaps it will be the camera that will provide the patience you are looking for? Hmmmh.
The other approved question topics were rather forgettable. The Kate Gosselin wig for Halloween and the concern she isn’t getting any share of it because it’s not called the Kate wig? Ok, got it. The most hurtful article that was written about her? An affair. Saving money? Cutting out coupons. Regrets? Tattoos. Dislikes? Homework. The dogs? Hopefully not gone forever, but there is just no time for them now.
Meanwhile, we learned that Jon’s lawyer has dropped him again and Jon is looking for another lawyer. Just another Gosselin episode.
