I have stopped scratching my head over Michael Lohan’s verbal accidents a while ago and I am actually convinced that he is in a race with Jon Gosselin for the most outrageous publicity stunts. Lohan’s latest contribution might be well beyond the comfort level of many and one has to wonder what it will take to bring him to reason. What does it take for Michael Lohan to comprehend that the prediction of his daughter’s potential death is not a topic to talk about?
Common sense is certainly something that has been lost with Lindsay’s dad. No matter how desperate the situation with the celebrity singer/actress may be, her dad is no help. In an interview with Grazia magazine (would someone please tell him to stay out of the media or would someone at least take him through a basic interview guideline?), Lohan said that Lindsay “could be dead in a year”. Some media reporting on the statement stated that Lohan is “deeply concerned” about the health of his daughter.
Here is more: “It could be a year, a month, a week – who knows? She has a plethora of medicine you can’t mix and can’t drink with. […] She needs long-term rehab. I fear the worst. Look at Elvis, Anna Nicole Smith, Heath Ledger – who was a close friend of hers.”
Let me get this straight: There is a single dad who knows enough about the health of his reportedly estranged daughter to fear for her death and he chooses the Maury show and a magazine interview to discuss this matter? Can anyone ask Lohan about his motivation to raise private concerns in the public spotlight? Would anyone care to coach Lohan on what to say in interviews and what not? Can anyone convince this guy to read a book or two on single parenting?
If he so desperately wants to be in the spotlight, perhaps he should try to work on his own career, rather than exploiting his daughter?
Lindsay Lohan recently said that she is a target for negative media attention, which is something that cannot be denied. Getting her celebrity single dad under control would be an important step to get her back on track.
