Healthy Halloween: Candy To Hand Out And Some That Are Really Gross

candy“Healthy” is one of those words your children really don’t want to hear on Halloween, especially right before they go trick or treating. But if you are concerned about their teeth then there are some candies you want to be paying attention to. Julie Deardorff from the Chicago Tribune has listed the healthiest candy, if you can call candy healthy, for Halloween.

The best candy your children can eat is powdery candy such as Pixy Stix and Sweet Tarts. It goes downhill in this order: Plain chocolate (including M&M’s), chocolate bars (Snickers, Twix), chewy candy (jelly beans) and hard candies (lollipops, Jolly Rancher). Read the entire article here. Oh, and if you are convincing your children that Halloween candy is really, really bad for your teeth, there is a dentist who is buying back candy from children and is willing to pay $1 per pound. I am not so sure if this one will fly with so many children (and parents who may have paid $3 per pound) … ummm … on second thought, is there anyone who wants to sell her/his Halloween candy to me?

Much more popular may be a slideshow over at the Huffington Post that lists the “grossest” candy for Halloween. Our favorites: Wax Bottle Candy, Pumpkin Candy Corn, Necco Wafers and Root Beer Barrels. See the slideshow here.
