John Gosselin has begun his conversation with celebrity Rabbi Shmuley Boteach at New York City’s West Side Jewish Center. During a public dialogue Sunday night, he admitted mistakes, claims he is misunderstood and expressed his intent to apologize to Kate.
Looking at Gosselin’s behavior over the past months, his dramatic change in views may raise some credibility issues here and there, but he is certainly making progress in repairing his public image. “Half the stuff I’ve done, if I look at my moral compass, I shouldn’t have done,” he said. “I know that but I did it anyway. It’s like fame canceled out conviction.”
While he admitted that he publicly humiliated Kate in the open public, he stated that the relationship with Hailey Glassman is still alive, but he wants to slow down things a bit. In an apparent effort to calm the relationship disaster with Kate, he said that he wants to apologize.
“I’ll apologize to her for openly having relationships in the public eye. That was a huge mistake, because if she would’ve done that to me, I would have been extremely pissed off. Not because our relationship is over, it’s almost like a stab in the back. And now that I think about it, it was a very wrong thing to do. I definitely regret it.”
Better late than never.
But, of course, in the end, the public may have never really understood what Jon was really trying to do: “I think I’m just misunderstood,” He said. “I’m not a fame seeker. Everyday I look in the mirror and I wonder [why I'm famous]. I don’t sing. I don’t dance. I’m not a Nobel Peace Prizewinner. I just had eight kids and I had a show on TLC.”
Ok, let’s not get carried away here. Let’s first digest that Jon wants to apologize. We aren’t quite ready to buy that fame (and money) isn’t really what Jon is interested in.
