Halo 3 Dominates

videogameteaser

It’s easy to lose touch of what is going on in video games and it may be difficult for you and other single parents to keep track of what your kids are playing and what is most popular in any given month. Plus, you may be among those wondering which video games to consider as Christmas gifts. Fortunately, there are market research firms that keep track of what U.S. consumer buy and we can provide that information to you.

In September, it was a sequel to Halo 3 that came out on top. And, for the very first time, the Playstation 3 was the most popular game console of the month.

10 Things Not To Say To Your Children During a Divorce

childhands

Divorce is a time of monumental emotional pain and hardship, a time in which we need support of others to find our way back on track and go on with our life. Yet you can never forget the promise you have given your children when you brought them into this world. You still need to be the best parent you can be and follow some rules to avoid more pain.

One of the most critical ones are phrases you should say to them and things you can think of but definitely can’t say. Here are ten things you should never say to your children during a divorce.

Cut Your Cellphone Bill: Walmart Cellphone Service

CELLPHONES

Having a functional cellphone is one of the critical tools single parents need today in order to stay in contact with their children. Unfortunately all that texting, calling and Internet comes with nosebleed price tags. And if you have been looking for a way to cut down your cellphone bill, Walmart’s new StraightTalk service may be just what you have been waiting for.

Let me just mention that I do not endorse Walmart’s new service and I have no idea how well the service actually works. But the retailer’s price of $45 per month for an all-you-can eat package sounds enticing, especially if you are currently shelling out $150 per month for AT&T’s unlimited calling/texting service. Here is what you need to know before you consider switching to Walmart.

Dating … What’s That?

dating

Isn’t it nice when you are married so that you don’t have to follow any dating rules? You go to dinner with your wife and … open the door? Don’t open the door. Does it really matter? I mean she has to go home with you, right? So there you are, at the movies with your wife. There is no wondering if she will grab your hand, or wondering if you should put your hands on her leg? Either way, she is going home with you.

Then there is that first kiss. When you are married and you go out, you probably don’t even care about a kiss as you are so excited that you actually got a free night to go out away from the kids. Then there is sex. As a husband, you know you are going to get it at least once a week, depending on how good you close the deal, or how many credits you earn for your weekly sex quota.

That was then……this is now! Wake up people, you are single again!

Ellen’s Tip of the Day: Face Your Fear!

Ellen Whitehurst

There once lived a marvelous teacher of something called ‘The School of New Thought’ and her name was Florence Scovel Shinn. Florence taught principles and philosophies that essentially supported that ‘all things are possible’ especially and effectively when you are willing to look directly into the eye of that lion named fear and then watch as it walks away.

What she meant by this has an exact relationship with the energies of this, ‘International Face Your Fears’ day. See, sometimes it appears as if the age of miracles is over and nothing is left but doubt and fear when, actually, nothing could be further from the Truth. Fear in itself is as destructive a force as there is.

Ellen’s Tip of the Day: Universal Music Day

Ellen Whitehurst

The energies surrounding today truly are toe tapping and melodic as we celebrate ‘Universal Music Day.’ As such we might each be inspired to sing a sweet hymn of gratitude while invoking and then inviting much more than just three part harmony.

Singing is surely one of the most creative acts we are each individually capable of as it links us to our own essence, our substance and the very nature of our beings. As the Bible tells us, words, in and of themselves, carry tremendous power but when those same words are sung that power becomes exponential and, well, universal as singing involves the full use and every aspect of the whole ‘self.’

Ellen’s Tip of the Day: There’s a Lot More to Eggs!

Ellen Whitehurst

What came first? Who cares on this day dedicated and devoted to a food considered to be both incredible and edible at the same time! That’s right, it’s ‘World Egg Day.’ Eggs have always had a sort of magic and mysticism attached to them since they are produced by bird linked with the skies above and the ancient deities that dwell there.

They are also considered to contain the compact essence of life and so have been revered, collected, eaten, buried and used in innumerable ways by man attempting to tap into their mysteries and alchemical opportunities. It is their ability to heal, however, that has captured the attention and imagination of cultures across the globe.

How To Pursue Single Parent Scholarships and Grants

education

Let’s face it. There isn’t much time for single parents to go back to school let alone the financial resources to enable your dream to go to Yale or Harvard to become a nanotech engineer or high-powered lawyer at a Fortune 500 company, if you aren’t part of the elite yet. Your live is filled with the joy and challenges of raising your children.

But your dream of higher education remains alive, if you want to. There are ways to find the financial help that may let you go back to school and either satisfy your hunger for knowledge or your chances of scoring a better job. Or both.

Ellen’s Tip of the Day: Prosperity Signatures

Ellen Whitehurst

Today marks the anniversary of the death of one of America’s Founding Fathers, John Hancock. Hancock is almost always primarily remembered through history for his signature on one of the most critical documents attached to the birth of this great nation, The Declaration of Independence.

Hancock died on this day in 1793 somewhat of an icon after gaining infamy as handily having the most flamboyant, flourishing signature on that same on revolutionary treatise. Since there is so much speculation regards the study of magic, alchemy and mysticism by those same Founding Fathers, it does make one wonder if Hancock was privy to the secret Signature of Prosperity that Feng Shui purports brings scads of success?

Ellen’s Tip of the Day: Sky Dragons

Ellen Whitehurst

I know, I know, I’m going to get mail, but, hey, today IS ‘Balloons Around the World Day’ and so it’s incumbent upon me to be the messenger for my craft and share how you send ‘Wish Balloons to the Sky Dragons.’

See, the Chinese believe that there is a great dragon in the sky that has the power to propel your wishes into the cosmos so that your heart’s desires can return to you on the wind. But first you have to send those wishes out in a specific and certain way.
