A whole day to pay tribute to those angels of mercy who lend their time, talents and as well as sympathetic shoulder and usually a big helping hand to anyone of us who ever has need of emergency hospital medical care? Hooray! Today is ‘Emergency Nurses Day,’ a time to show honor, gratitude and respect to people who pepper a field that has to be one of the hardest professions around!
There once lived a marvelous teacher of something called ‘The School of New Thought’ and her name was Florence Scovel Shinn. Florence taught principles and philosophies that essentially supported that ‘all things are possible’ especially and effectively when you are willing to look directly into the eye of that lion named fear and then watch as it walks away.
What she meant by this has an exact relationship with the energies of this, ‘International Face Your Fears’ day. See, sometimes it appears as if the age of miracles is over and nothing is left but doubt and fear when, actually, nothing could be further from the Truth. Fear in itself is as destructive a force as there is.
The energies surrounding today truly are toe tapping and melodic as we celebrate ‘Universal Music Day.’ As such we might each be inspired to sing a sweet hymn of gratitude while invoking and then inviting much more than just three part harmony.
Singing is surely one of the most creative acts we are each individually capable of as it links us to our own essence, our substance and the very nature of our beings. As the Bible tells us, words, in and of themselves, carry tremendous power but when those same words are sung that power becomes exponential and, well, universal as singing involves the full use and every aspect of the whole ‘self.’
What came first? Who cares on this day dedicated and devoted to a food considered to be both incredible and edible at the same time! That’s right, it’s ‘World Egg Day.’ Eggs have always had a sort of magic and mysticism attached to them since they are produced by bird linked with the skies above and the ancient deities that dwell there.
They are also considered to contain the compact essence of life and so have been revered, collected, eaten, buried and used in innumerable ways by man attempting to tap into their mysteries and alchemical opportunities. It is their ability to heal, however, that has captured the attention and imagination of cultures across the globe.
I know, I know, I’m going to get mail, but, hey, today IS ‘Balloons Around the World Day’ and so it’s incumbent upon me to be the messenger for my craft and share how you send ‘Wish Balloons to the Sky Dragons.’
See, the Chinese believe that there is a great dragon in the sky that has the power to propel your wishes into the cosmos so that your heart’s desires can return to you on the wind. But first you have to send those wishes out in a specific and certain way.
The precious gem most associated with October is the mystical, magical and quite beautiful Opal. This is one jewel that carries the dual qualities of being able to both absorb and reflect! In fact, it’s believed that whoever wears the Opal, whether it is your birthstone or not, will be offered opportunities for personal and powerful transformation.
The Opal is also said to enhance your self-confidence, your sense of self-worth and your self-esteem while also allowing a now innate knowing of how to reach and then appreciate your fullest potential. Since the Opal is also known to amplify, it asks that when you wear it that you consciously and intentionally send out positive thoughts, healing and vibrations.
In my kitchen I have a quote from one of the venerable and wise Confucius that says: ‘I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.’ To me, this wisdom speaks to the empowerment involved with taking appropriate action steps.
Anyone can create an intention and desire to accomplish some longed for goal. But the intention is only half the equation on producing a successful result. You must also follow through on manifesting your intention by taking some appropriate and synergistic action step.
So you know how I find all these crazy days off all those crazy calendars? Well, I’m not kidding when I say that today is ‘Fish Amnesty Day.’ So I thought I would share what Feng Shui has to say about fish or, more specifically, a certain fish that can free you from any financial concerns.
According to Feng Shui, the arrowana, or dragon fish, has long been believed to swim big financial boons and blessings into your life. In fact, the arrowana, with its silver scales and sword-like body, has been used in the Orient and in Eastern cultures to bring wealth and opportunities into your life if you invite it to create a flow for those same aspirations. If you should actually try to keep an arrowana fish, be advised that Feng Shui says it’s best kept singly or in groups of three or five.
It’s ‘Innergize Day,’ the perfect day to discuss bringing balance to the elements around and inside of us while also harmonizing the energies associated with those same elements. The Innergizing process is actually what Feng Shui is all about. Feng Shui says we can adjust the five elements of earth, water, wood, fire and metal by enacting a few easy but powerfully effective cures. To balance the earth element, drop nine small stones into any little vase and fill to 70 percent with clear and clean water.
Today we celebrate the return of another fall season we mark the annual Autumnal Equinox, traditionally a time to offer gratitude and joy as the ’second harvest’ begins. This day kicks off a period that should see personal introspection and reflection as the light begins to fade and it gets darker earlier.
Like the rest of nature, we should rest and refresh both soul and spirit so that we might gather strength to sail smoothly until the light returns to illuminate our paths once again. As we gather energies, let’s apply them internally to bring our bodies and souls to a place of peace and contentment. Many schools of Feng Shui maintain that you can increase your own personal power by enhancing the center of your living space.
